Overview
Friday can create pages, add rows to databases, and update existing content in Notion. To enable these capabilities you must connect the Notion integration to your account. The connection is a one‑time OAuth authorization; after it’s set up Friday will use the Notion integration automatically whenever a task requires it.Prerequisites
- A Notion workspace where you have permission to install integrations (admin or member role).
- Access to the Notion “My Integrations” page for the workspace.
Step‑by‑Step Guide
Friday will automatically detect when you need to connect to Notion as part of your regular use.1
Start with a real Notion request
Tell Friday what you want to do in Notion. This gives Friday the context it needs to request access and complete the setup.Example prompts:
- “Create a new page in my private Notion space titled Q2 Roadmap with the description Quarterly goals.”
- “Add a row to the Team‑Status table in Notion with my name, status Available, and notes Working on API.”
- “Update the Marketing‑Ideas page to include today’s brainstorm items.”
- “Every Monday 9am PT, review any closed GitHub PRs from the previous week, write release notes, and then create a new page in Notion.”
2
Start the OAuth flow
If you haven’t authenticated into Notion previously, Friday will automatically detect that you need to go through a one‑time OAuth flow.
- Click Connect Notion.
- You’ll be redirected to Notion’s authorization page.
3
Authorize Friday
- Review the permissions requested (read + write access to pages and databases).
- Check “I recognize and trust this URL.”
- Click Continue to grant the permissions.
- Notion will return you to Friday with a confirmation that the connection succeeded.
4
Continue your task
After authentication, the task you’ve set up in step 1 will continue automatically, and Friday will now be able to interact with your Notion-based requests.
5
Use Notion for future automations
Whenever you need Notion in a task—daily reports, project tracking, meeting notes—simply include the Notion action in your prompt. Because the integration is now ready, Friday will handle the operation automatically without further credential steps are required.
Security & Permissions
- Friday stores the OAuth token securely; the raw token is never exposed to you.
- The token is scoped only to the actions you approved (read/write access to pages and databases).
- Revoking the integration in Notion automatically disables the connection; you’ll need to reconnect to restore functionality.
Revoking Access
Note: By revoking access, any current and future workspaces set up with Friday will no longer be able to use Notion until you re-authenticate.- In Friday, go to Settings → Integrations.
- Find the Notion app and click Remove.
