Overview

Friday can create and update Jira issues, query boards and projects, and edit Confluence pages. To enable these capabilities you must connect the Atlassian integration to your account. The connection is a one‑time OAuth authorization; after it’s set up Friday will use the Atlassian integration automatically whenever a task requires it.

Prerequisites

  1. An Atlassian account with access to the Jira or Confluence site(s) you want Friday to interact with.
  2. Permission to authorize third‑party apps on your Atlassian site (typically admin or site‑admin role).

Step‑by‑Step Guide

Friday will automatically detect when you need to connect to Atlassian as part of your regular use.
1

Authorize Friday's domain in Atlassian admin panel

If this is the first time anyone from your organization is connecting Friday to your Atlassian site, an organization admin must approve Friday’s domain access:
  1. Go to admin.atlassian.com
  2. Navigate to Apps → Platform experiences → AI settings → Rovo MCP server
  3. Ensure “Allow Atlassian supported domains” is toggled on.
  4. Click “Add domain” and add the domain:
    https://app.hellofriday.ai/**

The entire address, including the **, is required.
This step only needs to be completed once per Atlassian site. After approval, all users in your Atlassian organization can connect individually.
2

Start with a real Jira or Confluence request

Tell Friday what you want to do in Jira or Confluence. This gives Friday the context it needs to request access and complete the setup.Example prompts:
  • “Create a Jira ticket in the ENG project titled Fix login bug with priority High.”
  • “Update the Confluence page Team Onboarding to include the new security training link.”
  • “List all open Jira issues assigned to me in the PRODUCT board.”
  • “Every Friday at 3pm PT, summarize the week’s closed Jira tickets and post the summary to Slack.”
3

Start the OAuth flow

If you haven’t authenticated into Atlassian previously, Friday will automatically detect that you need to go through a one‑time OAuth flow.
  • Click Connect Atlassian.
  • You’ll be redirected to Atlassian’s authorization page for your site (e.g., yourcompany.atlassian.net).
4

Authorize Friday

Click Install. On the following screen, review the permissions requested and click Accept to grant them.In Jira, Friday will be able to:
  • View – Read Jira project and issue data, search for issues, and view objects associated with issues (attachments, worklogs).
  • Update – Create and edit issues, post comments as you, create worklogs, and delete issues.
In Confluence, Friday will be able to:
  • View – Read comments, page content, space details, hierarchical content (pages, whiteboards, databases, folders, smart links), and user information (usernames, email addresses, profile pictures).
  • Update – Create and update comments and pages.
  • Search – Search across Confluence content.
User profile access:
  • View – View your profile details (name, email, avatar).
After you click Accept, Atlassian will return you to Friday with a confirmation that the connection succeeded.
You will not be able to hit Accept at this stage if an Atlassian organization admin has not completed Step 1.
5

Continue your task

After authentication, the task you set up in Step 2 will continue automatically, and Friday will now be able to interact with your Atlassian‑based requests.
6

Use Atlassian for future automations

Whenever you need Jira or Confluence in a task—issue tracking, sprint reports, documentation updates—simply include what you need in your prompt. Because the integration is now ready, Friday will handle the operation automatically; no further credential steps are required.

Security & Permissions

  • Friday stores the OAuth token securely; the raw token is never exposed to you.
  • The token is scoped only to the actions you approved (Jira issue management, Confluence page editing, search, and user profile access).
  • Revoking the integration in Atlassian automatically disables the connection; you’ll need to reconnect to restore functionality.

Revoking Access

Note: By revoking access, any current and future workspaces set up with Friday will no longer be able to use Atlassian until you re‑authenticate. To remove the Atlassian token from Friday:
  1. In Friday, go to Settings → Integrations.
  2. Find Atlassian you’d like to revoke access and click Remove.
To remove the Friday domain from your Atlassian site:
  1. Go to admin.atlassian.com
  2. Navigate to Apps → Platform experiences → AI settings → Rovo MCP server
  3. Click Delete next to the Friday domain.
  4. Confirm Delete in the pop up.
